Images strike faster than text. You have probably already written a few thousand words. Now it’s time to supplement those with a few pictures.
Pictures set the mood and lower the barrier to contacting you; they make you a human instead of a web page. They are your opportunity to create a great first impression.
Now that you’ve introduced yourself (haven’t yet? Check out this mini-course we put together.), there is one more section you’ll have to put together to complete your profile and give service seekers the peace of mind they need to buy from you.
If you want people to buy from you, they need to believe in you first.
We’re almost there! The next part is the easy part. Today, you’re going to run your draft through a series of questions and edit it until it feels right.
Are your statements unique? Or could they be plucked from any corporate mission statement?
Today, we’re going to draft it. Editing is for later. Put your phone on do not disturb, close every other computer-window and give yourself the option of writing or just sitting there. (You’ll thank me later).
With all of this writing about you, I feel like you might know all of the elements of your story. It’s like having a fully stocked pantry at home. You might be able to craft a meal with it, but if you put a 14 year old with no cooking experience in there, she might not end up with something edible.
Humans do business with humans. You are not just your service: you are multi-dimensional. You might not find you interesting but the things that are everyday to you are novel to someone else. Today it’s time to tell a story.

Writing an about section can be difficult. Just look at all of the blank or auto-generated bios on LinkedIn!
From now on, we’ll stop referring to it as an About section. This section is about introducing yourself. Have you ever been put on the spot with a microphone in front of you and the words “introduce yourself” trailing off into the recent past? Perhaps 1% of the population is naturally inclined towards being able to give a charming and accurate answer. The rest of us ramble on, including our name, job title, company, and maybe a half-baked explanation of what we do.
